ABOUT US

We are a reenacting group located in New England, e{tabli{hed in 2023. The unit i{ headquartered ju{t north of Bo{ton, Ma{{achu{ett{, with member{ acro{{ New England. We authentically and correctly recreate an artillery company in Knox'{ Regiment a{ it would have been {een in the time between November of 1775 and the end of December 1776, a pivotal time in America'{ War of Independence. U{ing original document{ to provide guidance, we are one of the mo{t authentically uniformed and equipped artillery reenactment group{ in New England. We are currently fielding two bra{{ three pounder{, two bra{{ Coehorn Mortar{ and are waiting for an iron 4 pounder to be delivered in the {pring of 2025.

~ THE GUNS ~

- Light Three Pound Gun -

Gun No. 1

Our fir{t cannon we had built wa{ our light three pound field gun. It i{ of Lord Town{end{ de{ign of 1776. The{e were often battalion gun{ and would deploy with infantry battalion{, and were very mobile due to their {mall {ize and relative light weight. We are able to move thi{ gun rapidly around the battlefield directly {upporting the infantry to which we are attached.

- Three Pound Gun -

Gun No. 2

The {econd of our gun{ that we have! Originally the carriage {tarted out life a{ a howitzer carriage, however due to the intricacie{ of loading a chambered gun like a howitzer, when the opportunity aro{e to acquire a {econd, and larger three pound gun we jumped at it. Thi{ gun i{ of an older {tyling and {lightly larger {ize than Gun 1 that would have been {een during the reign of King George 2 and i{ marked a{ {uch. Like the Gun 1 it could be ea{ily moved on the battlefield.

- 4.6" Coehorn Mortar{ -

Mortar{ No. 4 & 5

We have two 4.6" Coehorn Motar{. The{e are ca{t in bra{{, though other{ were ca{t in iron. The{e {tubby gun{ were intended to be u{ed in {eige{ of fortified po{ition{ or while in {omewhat {tatic defence{. They are {et into heavy, {olid block{ of wood and are fixed at a firing angle of 45 degree{. Thi{ high trajectory arc would allow it to fire hollow, explo{ive {hell{ into enemy work{ where they would then bur{t. We don't typically field the{e two piece{ in reenactment{, but have them on hand for di{play and u{e in {tatic firing demon{tration{.
