May 2023 Update!
So there has been a change in what we are going to do!
I've been pouring a lot of time and resources into this project and have heavily on the help of many folks. The original plan was a for a bronze 6 pound gun and carriage. Unfortunately the barrel maker I was talking with keeps getting hit with higher priority projects and it was being pushed into 2024. At the end of the day this is probably a blessing, as we were ready to invest a sizeable sum on a large gun that currently has minimal crew, and needs at least few good people to move it about.

While we still want to field a true 6lb gun at some point in the upcoming 250th cycle, trying to find enough dedicated members initially to field a 6 pounder consistently could be a tall order (A minimum of four, but more realistically six individuals would be needed to move it efficiently and safely). So we decided to scrap that and have pivoted to a 3lb gun.
A new unused, 3lb Verbruggen has practically fallen into our lap. It is an iron cast gun with a stainless sleeve and will be bronze coated, it will be mounted on a brand new Townsend pattern carriage. Whilst we know that the Verbruggen pattern gun wasn't really seen in use by provincial/colonial forces at the outset of the conflict this will enable us to field sooner, and the wait time will be cut down considerably. We are still planning to order a second gun, and am on the fence, we still would like a 6, but am considering an older pattern gun, such as an earlier, larger English 3. We should have delivery of the 3lb cannon barrel within a month's time!
That will all be determined at a later date. Our focus now is growing out unit and safely crewing a gun, whilst maintaining a high degree of accurate material culture and deportment. I am excited to hit the ground running. We have some exciting news in the months to come about working with some other great artillery groups in the hobby. The future is bright and we can't wait!
